The Redding Library has an extensive local history section located on the second floor. Though in locked cases, much of the collection can be checked out by the public.
The local history area of the library contains many collections including:
- Boggs Local History Collection
- Newspapers on microfilm
- California Indian Library Collection (CILC)
- Local area maps
- Genealogy
The collection is named for Mae Helene Bacon Boggs, an early resident and author/historian, who donated a collection of local history materials, which formed the nucleus of the collection. The Redding Library even has the antique bookcase that she donated to hold the materials.
